I’m Javier R. Alfonzo, a sculptor and master stone carver specializing in architectural lettering, memorial art, and sculptural commissions in stone and bronze.
My work brings together the discipline of traditional hand carving, the precision of calligraphic design, and a deep respect for material. From inscriptions integrated into private landscapes and architecture to memorials and sculptural reliefs, each commission is developed with attention to its purpose, setting, and enduring presence.

THE COMMISSION PROCESS
Each commission follows a thoughtful progression from initial conversation to finished work.
The process is adapted to the nature, scale, and requirements of the individual project.
Conversation & Vision
Every project begins with a conversation to understand its purpose, setting, and artistic intention. Together, we explore the ideas, materials, and practical considerations that will guide the commission.
Design & Proposal
Concept drawings, lettering studies, or sculptural sketches are developed as appropriate to the project. Composition, scale, materials, scope, and investment are defined before production begins.
Creation & Craftsmanship
Following design approval, the work enters its agreed production phase. Whether hand-carved in stone, modeled for bronze casting, or developed as a sculptural composition, each piece receives careful attention to form, craftsmanship, and material integrity.
Completion & Delivery
The completed work is reviewed and prepared for its intended setting. Delivery, third-party fabrication, or installation arrangements are determined by the agreed scope of each commission, ensuring clarity of responsibilities from beginning to completion.
